TOWN OF CENTER, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Several people sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday in Outagamie County.
Shortly after 11:05 a.m., the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of County Trunk S and State Highway 47 in the town of Center for a serious injury crash.
Officials say a 38-year-old Appleton man and his 49-year-old male passenger from New London were traveling eastbound on County Trunk S, approaching State Highway 47, in an SUV.
Two motorcycles, ridden by a 64-year-old male from Appleton and a 36-year-old male from Milwaukee, were traveling northbound on State Highway 47, approaching County Trunk S.
A semi-truck, driven by a 23-year-old male from Green Bay, was traveling westbound on County Trunk S and stopped at the stop sign at State Highway 47.
The driver of the SUV failed to yield the right-of-way to the two motorcyclists and entered the intersection,” a news release states. “The SUV was struck by both motorcycles, causing the SUV and one of the motorcycles to strike the semi-truck.
The SUV’s passenger was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. Both motorcyclists were transported by ambulance for medical care, the 64-year-old with serious injuries and the 36-year-old with critical injuries.
The driver of the SUV was arrested and taken to the Outagamie County Jail on a felony charge of knowingly operating while revoked – causing great bodily harm.
The roadway was closed for approximately 2.5 hours but has since reopened.
