OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Five people were arrested over the weekend during a pub crawl near the UW-Oshkosh campus, including one for firing gun shots.
Police say the annual, unsanctioned “Pub Crawl” event results in an increase in house parties and pedestrian traffic throughout the area. Several incidents were investigated despite an enlarged law enforcement presence.
At approximately 9:40 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to “a large physical disturbance” taking place outdoors involving about 100 people. It was reported that gunshots were heard in the immediate area while officers were on scene.
Several shell casings were located. No one was injured and no property damage occurred as a result of the shots being fired, police said.
30 minutes after the incident was reported, a 20-year-old Oshkosh man was taken into custody for:
- First degree recklessly endangering safety
- Felon in possession of firearm
- Felony bail jumping,
- Possession of THC 2nd offense
- Possession of MDMA 2nd offense
Police say they responded to approximately 100 calls for service in the areas of the Pub Crawl event. 48 citations were written — including three for underage consumption/possession of alcohol and 39 for open intoxicants.
Information regarding the four other arrests is as follows:
Irving/ Elmwood: A 20-year-old male from Oshkosh was arrested for disorderly conduct, threats to a law enforcement officer and for violation of probation/parole rules.
600 Block of Wisconsin: A 21-year-old male from Fond du Lac was arrested for disorderly conduct, battery, possession of marijuana, and resisting arrest. Police say he battered a female and pushed several other individuals at a party.
Lincoln/Wisconsin: A 20-year-old male from Sheboygan was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Police say he repeatedly lied to officers about his identity.
Lincoln/Wisconsin: While investigating a disturbance, officers arrested a 21-year-old male from Milwaukee for disorderly conduct, carrying a concealed Weapon (brass knuckles) and possession of marijuana and amphetamine.
