GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said more than 125,000 fans attended day one of the NFL Draft.
Many of them drove their own vehicle into town.
“It was an easy drive in. It was a lot of backroads, so I was a little worried about that, but it was really, really smooth getting in at this time,” said Orion Fox, a Cowboys fan.
“The closer we got to the park, every road we needed to turn on was closed. So we had a lot of detours to get there, but we finally got there and we had some T-bone steaks and some brats,” said Packers fan Larry Klema.
Whether you were from Omaha, Nebraska, like Orion Fox, or Mendota, Illinois, like Larry Klema, driving in for day one of the NFL Draft came with minimal issues.
Fox paid $50 for parking at the Cabela’s lot just off I-41 in Ashwaubenon, while Klema and his son paid $100 further down Argonne Street.
“The NFL One Pass app advertised to park like on game day — find someone’s parking lot or their driveway and park there,” said Fox.
“It was $100, which I wouldn’t say is bad at all, being as with the event that’s going on, so I’m not mad at it,” said Nathan Klema.
Others like Ron Bodart, who lives in Bellevue, decided to not pay upwards of $100 dollars to park their own car. He decided to take a $40 Uber in instead.
“I know parking is a little expensive so we just jumped in an Uber,” said Bodart. “We were here in like 15 minutes from Bellevue, piece of cake.”
For many fans, transportation wise, it’s so far so good — and they’re eager to experience what the NFL Draft has to offer in Green Bay.
“Since the day they announced it, we’ve been looking forward to it. I mean, it’s our Super Bowl, right?” said Bodart.
